DAY 01:    ARRRIVE CHENNAI    BY: INT. FLIGHT

On Arrival at the Chennai airport, an INDUS TRIPS representative will receive you and transfer you to the hotel.

Chennai – More than a city, Madras is a potpourri of impressions: a fistful of color, a whiff of jasmine, the rustling of silk. It brings to mind the subtle, intricate variations of classical music, the evocative grace of Bharatanatyam and a spontaneity of bronzed Dravidian faces. Stray images chase one another: bold colour drawn into the pleats of the Kancheepuram sari; a neat, swaying, ebony plait crowned with a spray of flowers; complicated and exuberant sculpture lacing temple walls. DAY 02:   CHENNAI – MAHABALIPURAM     BY: SURFACE

Morning after breakfast at the hotel, proceed for sightseeing tour of Chennai visiting fort St. George, the seat of the state government and the legislative assembly. The fort was built in 1652 by the British East India Company. The fort contains the fort museum with its collection of memorabilia of the East India co.

Also see St. Mary`s church the oldest surviving Anglican church in India. Very near to Fort St.George is the Indo Saracenic High Court building, said to be the largest judicial building in the world after the Courts of London.

Opposite the high courts lies the beautiful Marina beach. Proceed on to the Kapaleeswarar temple, a pure dravidian temple and one of the most ancient in Madras. Drive on to the Government museum with its galleries off chola Bronzes

Later leave for Mahabalipuram (58 kms / 1.5 hrs) enroute visiting Kanchipuram.

Kanchipuram is the ancient capital of the Pallavas famous as a city of 1000 Temples and still has 124 shrines. The first temple dedicated to Shiva was built in the 7th and 8th century and has paintings on the walls. Temples of Ekambaswara, Kailasanatha, Sri Kamakshi and Varadarajaswamy are of interest. Kanchipuram is also famous for its silks.

DAY 03:    MAHABALIPURAM – PONDICHEERY       BY: SURFACE

After buffet breakfast visit the magnificent rock temples and carvings in Mahabalipuram.

Built in sandstone in the 7th century. Bhagiratha’s Penance is a bas- relief (27 to 9m) sculptured on the face of two enormous adjacent rocks, depicts, the penance of Arjuna, myraid characters from the Mahabharata, realistic life-size figures of animals, gods and saints watching the descent of the river goddess Ganga to earth.

Later you will be driven from Mahabalipuram – Pondichery (120 kms / 04 – 05 hrs).

Sri Aurobindo Ashram

The ashram was founded in 1920 when Sri Aurobindo reached Pondicherry, a French colony and put in place his ideas of peaceful community. The ashram, for long, was run by his French companion Mirra Alfassa, universally known as the Mother. The ashram houses the samadhi of Sri Aurobindo and the mother and open to everybody for fixed hours every day.

Pondicherry Museum

Situated in the Government Park, the Pondicherry Museum has a very good sculpture gallery and a section of archaeological finds from the Roman settlement at Arikamedu. There is also a French section charting the history of the colony. The objects include the four-poster bed in which Dupleix is believed to have slept. There is also a superb collection of the snail shells from the Pondicherry Region.

Built in the Gothic style, this massive church is one of the most beautiful churches in Pondicherry.

DAY 04:      PONDICHERRY – TRICHY         BY: SURFACE

Buffet breakfast at the hotel drive to Tanjore (180 kms / 06 – 07 hrs) enroute visiting Chidambaram. Continue your drive to Tanjore & upon arrival, check-in at hotel.

The Nataraja Temple Chidambaram

Thanjavur:   was the ancient capital of the Chola kings whose origins, go back to the beginning of the Christian era. Power struggles between these groups were a constant feature of their early history, with one or other gaining the ascendancy at various times. The Cholas’ turn for empire building came between 850 and 1270 AD and, at the height of their power. Probably the greatest chola emperors were Raja who was responsible for building the Brihadishwara Temple (Thanjavur main attraction) and his son Rajendra- I whose navy competed with the Arabs for controls of the Indian Ocean trade routes and who was responsible for bringing Srivijaya under Chola control.

Proceed for sightseeing tour of Tanjore – was the capital of the Chola Empire from the tenth to the fourteenth centuries. A Chola king, Raja Chola, who held the throne from 985 to 1016, built the greatest of the empire’s 74 temples, the Brahadeeswarar, with its soaring tower over the inner sanctum. This tower rises more than 62 meters (200 feet). On its dome rests a single block of granite weighing 80 tons

Later drive to Trichy (55 kms / 01 hrs)

Tiruchirappalli is situated in center Tamil Nadu, on the banks of the Cauvery river. It is 320 km from Madras and 150 km from Madurai. It was a Chola citadel during the Sangam Age and was also briefly ruled by the Pallavas and the Pandyas. Today, Trichy is a blend of history, a pilgrim center and a thriving commercial city.

Rock Fort Temple

 Proceed for sightseeing tour of Trichy visit the ‘Rock Fort Temple which rises abruptly to a height of 273 ft. A steep staircase cut into the rock leads upto the Fort. At the first level are the remnants of a huge hall blasted into ruins in 1772. The next storey is the Mathrubhuteshwarer Shrine dedicated to Shiva. Finally at the top of the hill, the ‘Uchhi Pillayar Koil’ – a Ganesh Temple offering a commanding view of the city.

Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple

Later you will visit Island of Srirangam. Tiruchirapalli, called Tiruchi or Trichy in Short, was built by the Nayak rulers of Madurai around a rock fort. Tiruchi is on the banks of the Kaveri river and is famous for the Ranganatha Temple at Srirangam, 10 km away. The Rock fort is the center of the city and is a remarkable structure. About 83 meters high, the fort dominates the landscape. The Uchi pillaiyer Temple dedicated to lord Vinayaka or Ganesha. A total of 344 steps, cut into the rock lead to the temple. There is also the Tyaumanaswami Temple of lord Shiva half way up the hillock. There are also two cave temples in the fort with sculptures dating back to the 6th and 7th centuries. The Sri Jambukeswara Temple, at Tiruvankkaikaval, Srirangam is an island in the Kaveri river, north of Tiruchirapalli. The Ranganathaswami Temple here, built around 13th-14th centuries has 21 towers and stone pillars covered with fine carvings.

DAY 05:      TRICHY – MADURAI        BY: SURFACE

After buffet breakfast you will be driven to Madurai (130 kms / 04 hrs)

Madurai – Situated on the banks of river Vaigai, Madurai is more than 2,500 years old and has a rich cultural heritage and history. Madurai was an important cultural and commercial centre even as early as 550 AD. Madurai was the capital city for the great Pandya kings.

On arrival proceed to check in at the hotel.

Afternoon you will proceed for the sightseeing tour of Madurai City.

Madurai’s main attraction is the famous Meenakshi temple located in the heart of the old town, a riotously baroque example of Dravidian architecture with gopurams (towers) covered from top to bottom with a breathless profusion of multi-colored images of gods, goddesses, animals and mythical figures.   The temple complex is a city within a city and one can spend days exploring its labyrinthine corridors and halls.

Another attraction is the Thirumalai Nayak Palace (1636) restored by Lord Napier, dance drama concerts are performed daily.

In the evening, you will once again proceed to the Meenakshi temple complex to witness the evening Aarti ceremony in which Lord Shiva is carried in a palanquin accompanied by musicians, temple singers and priests to the temple of his consort Parvati to spend the night.

DAY 06:               MADURAI – THEKKADY                           BY: SURFACE

After buffet breakfast you will proceed for Periyar (160 kms / 4.5 hrs).

The name Thekkady, brings to mind images of elephants, unending chains of hills and spice-scented plantations. Moreover, the flora and fauna of the Periyar wildlife sanctuary is absolutely thrilling. The wildlife sanctuary here is the natural habitat of a wide variety of animal species.

The Periyar Lake is a paradise for the nature lovers. It gives you an opportunity to observe the wild animals roaming in the jungle. The greatest attraction of Periyar Lake, however, is the herds of wild elephants that come down to play in the lake. Moreover, the Sanctuary Watch Tower situated in the forest interior gives you a panoramic view of the park.

Other attractions of the sanctuary are the Sambhar, Bison, Spotted Deer, Tigers, Leopards, Malabar Flying Squirrels, Stripe necked Mongooses, etc. There are over 260 species of birds here including Nilgiri Wood Pigeons, blue-winged Parakeets, White bellied Tree Pies, laughing Thrushes and Fly Catchers.

In the afternoon, proceed to Periyar National Park to view the wildlife by boat. Situated within the confines of the Western Ghats in the southern Indian state of Kerala, PeriyarNational Park and Tiger.

Reserve is one of the most captivating wildlife parks in the world. The park has a picturesque lake at the heart of the sanctuary. Herds of elephant and sambar, gaur and wild pigs and wander down to the lakeside and can be observed from the launches that cruise the lake. Periyar also harbours the leopard, wild dog, barking deer and mouse deer.

DAY 07:    THEKKADY –  KUMARAKOM BY: SURFACE

After buffet breakfast you will proceed for Kumarakom (180 kms / 4.5 hrs)

Twelve kilometres to the west of Kottayam town lies a small village called Kumarakom. The village is a part of Kuttanad, the wonderland which lies below sea level. The Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary, spread over 14 acres of lush greenery and blue waters, is located on the banks of the Vembanad Lake. The sanctuary is home to local varieties of waterfowl, cuckoo, and water ducks, as well as migrating Siberian storks.

DAY 08:   KUMARAKOM – ALLEPPY

After buffet breakfast you will proceed to board your houseboat.

Kettuvallams are huge, tapering barges which were traditionally used to cargo rice and other goods across Kerala. It has a portion covered with bamboo and coir serving as kitchen and rest rooms for the crew. These boats are entirely built without the use of nails. Planks of jack wood are woven together with coir ropes and coated with a black resin made from boiled cashew kernels

Sections of the carved roof of wood and plaited palms open out to provide shade and allow an uninterrupted view. Most of the boats are poled by local oarsmen. Some are powered by engines. DAY 09:    ALLEPPY – COCHIN

Morning disembark Houseboat and depart for Cochin by surface (90 Kms/2 Hrs).

Cochin (Kochi) is spread across islands and promontories in a stunning location between the Arabian Sea and the Backwaters. The city was founded in 1341 when a flood created a natural safe port, which became the principal harbour for Malabar Coast’s spice trade. Cochin was on the main trade route between Europe and China. The rulers invited people of various religions to settle here, attracting the Jews and the Christians who built places of worship and their own communities.

You will first proceed to Mattancherry and visit the oldest Jewish Synagogue (Closed on Saturdays & All the Jewish holidays)in India, built in 1568; it was destroyed by the Portuguese and rebuilt by the Dutch a century later.

You will also visit The Dutch Palace(Closed on Fridays)- which was built in 1555 and its coronation hall and murals at Ramayana are noteworthy features.

Chinese fishing nets. The cantilevered fishing nets line the entrance to the harbour mouth. Chinese traders are believed to have originally introduced them in the 14th century although, today parts of the nets are known by Portuguese names.

St. Francis ChurchYour next stop will be St. Francis Church, originally named after Santo Antonio and dedicated to him as the Patron Saint of Portugal, St. Francis Church is the first church to have been in the new European influenced tradition. Originally a wooden building was replaced by the present stone building. Vasco De Gamma died on the site in 1524 and was originally buried in the cemetery. 14 years later his body was removed to Portugal. The church was renamed St. Francis in 1663.

Kathakali-dance

In the evening, you will be taken to a Kathakali dance centre where you will witness the most elaborate of the dance forms in southern India. Here you will witness the artists readying themselves up with the make up for the final performance.   Kerala owes its transnational fame to this nearly 300 years old classical dance form, which combines facets of ballet, opera, masque and the pantomime. It is said to have evolved from other performing arts like Kootiyattam, Krishnanattam and Kalarippayattu. Kathakali explicates ideas and stories from the Indian epics and Puranas. Presented in the temple precincts after dusk falls Kathakali is heralded by the Kelikottu or the beating of drums in accompaniment of the Chengila (gong).

DAY 10:    COCHIN – GOA     BY FLIGHT                       

After buffet breakfast, you will be transferred to Cochin airport to board your flight to Goa via Mumbai/Bangalore.

You will than photo-stop at Victoria Terminus which is now known as Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. This magnificent building was constructed for a period of 10 years. The construction work started in 1878 and was completed in the year 1888. The building was designed by F.W .Stevens, a famous architect of Britain. In 1882, on the occasion of New Year’s Eve this railway station started its operation in Mumbai.

Victoria Terminus is undoubtedly the Raj’s piece de resistance, Complete with carved stone friezes, stained glass windows and flying buttresses.

It is basically a clock tower that rises to a height of 85 m (280 ft) and houses the University Library. The top of the cupola is ornamented with sixteen statues depicting various Indian castes. The tower has been modelled after the Big Ben Clock Tower of the UK houses of Parliament, situated in London, and was built as per the designs of Sir George Gilbert Scott, an English architect. It was in March 1869 that the foundation stone of the Rajabai Clock Tower of Bombay was laid down.

Day 01: Arrive Delhi – You will be met on arrival and transfer to your hotel for the night.

Day 02: Delhi – Haridwar – Transfer to New Delhi railway station early in the morning. Met on arrival at Haridwar railway station and transfer to your hotel (The hotel is located close to Ganges ghats. The approach to the hotel is through narrow lane where the vehicle cannot go. So you will reach the hotel on cycle rickshaw. The hotel offers vegetarian food only and there is no bar)(Haridwar is the city of temples, ashrams, ghats and sage. According to Hindu mythology, Haridwar is believed to be one of the seven holiest places) Witness the ceremonial Worship with oil lamp (Aarti) on the ghats of the Ganges.

Day 03: Haridwar – Uttarkashi – Drive to Uttarkashi in the morning. Stay in the resort for a night. Uttarkashi is the last major town in the Gangotri valley. En route, you can visit Nehru Institute of Mountaineering – a premier training institute for mountaineering and other adventure sports at Uttarkashi.

Day 04: Uttarkashi – Gangotri – Drive to Gangotri in the morning (Gangotri is the starting points for Gaumukh trek. Here you will meet your trekking crew and proters). Stay overnight in a guest house. In the evening, witness the puja and aarti at Gangotri temple – one of the four sacred dhams for Hindu in the Himalayas.

Day 05: Gangotri – Bhojbasa – Start your first day of trek to Bhojbasa. The trek to Bhojbasa follows the right bank of Bhagirathi (Ganges) over beaten trail.  From Bhojbasa, you get the first view of majestic Shivling and Bhairathi group of mountains. Beyond Bhojbasa, the terrain becomes really desolate and barren. Overnight stay in simple Alpine style tents.

Day 06: Bhojbasa – Enjoy excursion to Gaumukh today. ‘The Source of Ganges’ – literally meaning ‘Cow’s Mouth’, Gaumukh is snout of Gangotri glacier from where Ganga emerges. From Gaumukh, the scene is fascinating, with praying pilgrims and half-naked sadhus meditating along the banks of the tumultuous stream that pours out of the Gangotri glacier.

Day 07: Bhojbasa – Tapovan – Today is probably the toughest day of this trek. From Gaumukh the trail leaves its way through the terminal moraine before cutting across the Gangotri glacier and climbing steeply up to the grassy slopes to Tapovan (4400 m / 14432 ft). Tapovan is a large high altitude meadow, furrowed with streams and scattered with flowers. It offers the panoramic view of Shivling (6543 m / 21460 ft), Meru (6450 m / 21156 ft) and the Bhaghirati-1 (6856 m / 22488 ft).

Day 08: Tapovan – Day at leisure to explore the area. You may choose to an optional full day trek to Kirti Bamak – Base of Kedar Dome (6830 m / 22402 ft).

Day 09: Tapovan – Chirbasa – Trek back to Bhojbasa and continue further to Chirbasa – a grassy meadow beside the Bhagirathi (Ganges) for overnight stay.

Day 10: Chirbasa – Gangotri – Uttarkashi – Trek back to Gangotri and drive to Uttarkashi. Stay overnight in a resort / guest house.

Day 11: Uttarkashi – Rishikesh – Drive to Rishikesh in the morning. Stay in a hotel for the night. Visit ashrams and also witness the Ganga Aarti in the evening.

Day 09: Nyetse – Hanamur (6 hr. trek) – Today’s trek is a steep climb with many ups and down to Parfila pass. Continue trekking to Hanamur – the first village with only four houses! Camp overnight.

Day 13: Padum – Raru (5 hr. trek) – Today’s trek is a walk along Tserap River until you reach to Raru Village. You will visit beautiful Barden gompa and Mune gompa en route. Overnight in the camp.

Day 19: Kargiak – Lakhang (5 hr. trek) – Today’s trek is through a beautiful valley full of flowers. You will pass by a sherpherd camp to reach Lakhang. You will camp at the base of Shingula pass.

Day 01: Arrive Delhi – Met on arrival at Delhi and transferred to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 02: Delhi – Leh – Early in the morning, you will be transferred to airport to board your flight to Leh. Passing over many Himalayan mountain ranges, this Trans Himalayan flight is one of the most spectacular and breathtaking flights in the world. You are advised to take rest during the day for high altitude acclimatization. In the afternoon, proceed for short sightseeing of Shankar monastery and Shanti Stupa. Walk back to your hotel through busy and colourful Leh Bazar.

Day 03: Leh – Enjoy full day sightseeing of monasteries of Indus valley. Visit Hemis Monastery – built on a hillside surrounded by spectacular mountains, Hemis is the biggest and the most important monastery in Ladakh. This wealthiest monastery contains gold statues and stupas decorated with precious stones and many priceless old Thankas. Also visit Thiksey Gompa – one of the most imposing monasteries belonging to the 15th century, the monastery belongs to Gelugpa order (Yellow sect). Before returning to your hotel, visit the beautiful Shey Monastery – a former Royal Palace. There is a 17.5 m / 58 ft high blue haired Maitreya Buddha of copper, brass gilded and studded with precious gemstones.

Day 04: Leh – Spituk – Jingchen (Trek starts. Night stay in tented camps)- Drive to Spituk in the morning. Spituk is one of the starting points for Markha Valley trek. Here you will meet your trekking crew and horsemen. Visit Spituk Monastery and start your first day trek to Jingchen. It is important that you take today slowly in order that you acclimatise well. Cross the bridge over the Indus River and continue along an undulating path following the left hand bank of the Indus until it meets with the Jingchan River.

Day 05: Jingchen – Rumbak – Initially follow the river which flows from Stok Kangri (6121 m / 20082 ft) then trek gradually up to the camp near Rumbak. Rumbak is situated about 1 km below Ganda La Pass (4820 m / 15814 ft).

Day 06: Rumbak Ganda La – Shingo – Follow a good path along the right hand side of the valley, through Yurutse (4180 m / 13710 ft) then take the right hand fork in the path and ascend up to yak pastures where there are Buddhist chortens (shrines). Trek steeply up to Ganda La Pass (4800 m / 15748 ft).  If conditions permit, you may wish to climb higher from the pass. There is then a long, easy descent down to Shingo where you will camp for the night.

Day 07: Shingo – Skiu – Trek south through a narrow gorge. You will have to cross the same river several times for about 2 hrs until you reach the Markha River. This confluence is marked by Skiu Gompa (3380 m / 11090 ft). Start heading east along the river for about 1km until you reach Skiu village where you will camp for the night.

Day 08: Skiu – Markha – Continue to follow the river along the stunning valley to Markha. You will pass through the little settlement of Chaluk (3620 m / 11875 ft) before descending into the valley floor. Ascend briefly up to the pretty town of Markha where there is an impressive Gompa and derelict fort. Camp here near the river.

Day 09: Markha – Nimaling – Leave the campsite at Markha and head up to the main valley. You will have to cross the river a number of times. Pass the monastery of Humlung (3850 m / 12630 ft) which you could stop to visit and also look out for Kang Yatse Peak (6400 m / 21000 ft). Pass through the Hankar settlement (3980 m / 13057 ft) which is one of the highest settlements in the Markha Valley. The valley will start to narrow and increase in altitude before one final river crossing taking you to the pastures at Nimaling where you will spend the night.

Day 10: Nimaling – Rest day to aid acclimatisation before crossing the second pass. Mt Kang Yatse dominates the background of this beautiful pasture of Nimaling.

Day 11: Nimaling – Kangmaru La – Churikimo – Trek over Gongmaru La Pass at 5100 m / 16730 ft. The pass will be marked by numerous prayer flags and you will be able to look onto the spectacular views of the Ladakh and Zanskar Ranges to the north and south. Descend down on other side of the pass into the Indus Valley. The trek descends steeply through a narrow gorge before opening near a hot spring at Churikimo – our camp site for today.

Day 12: Churikomo – Hemis – Leh – There is a clear track which you can follow along the valley and over a bridge into Shang Sumdo village (3450 m / 11318 ft). Drive back to Leh for a well deserved rest!

Day 13: Leh – Day at leisure. You can spend the day exploring Leh town

Day 14: Delhi – Leh – Early morning, you will be transferred to airport to board your return flight to Delhi. Met on arrival and transferred to your hotel for overnight stay. Remainder of the day at leisure. (Optional: You can visit monuments of Delhi in the afternoon on direct payment)

Day 15: Depart Delhi – Transfer to airport in time for your departure for onward destination.

Day 01: Arrive Delhi – Meet on arrival and transfer to your hotel for overnight stay.

Day 02: Delhi – Kathgodam – Enjoy sightseeing of of Delhi. Late evening transfer to railway station to board overnight train to Kathgodam. Overnight onboard train.

Day 03: Kathgodam – Almora (Kalmatia Sangam) – Met on arrival at Kathgodam railway station and transfer to Kalmatia Sangam. After breakfast start an easy walk to Chittai. The Chittai bell temple is dedicated to Golu Devta (god of justice and peculiar to Kumaon). The temple is hung with petitions and bells of all shapes and sizes brought by grateful devotees. The walking path starts from the resort through Chir (pine) forests via Sintola with good views into the valley and Himalya range. After temple visit walk back to the resort. Day 04: Kalmatia Sangam (Binsar Sanctuary Walk) – After breakfast drive to Binsar. Walk up to Zero Point through dense oak and rhododendron forests. Enjoy the view and hike downhill to Shiva temple. From there trek initially further downhill and then follow the western Binsar ridge towards Kangarchina. A very scenic walk with good views of the Himalaya on one side and the terraced valley on the other side. On route enjoy a packed lunch. Drive back to resort.

Day 05: Kalmatia Sangam – Deora Village – After breakfast start the village walk through picturesque villages along terraced fields, waterfalls, along a winding stream and Chir (pine) forests. This gentle walk through valleys then takes you up to the village of Deora. Before reaching Deora you visit the 1000 year old temples of Kali and Vishnu. Overnight at Deora. A lovely village with wonderfully carved doors and windows overlooking the valley with the the ancient temples. Freshen up and enjoy a welcome drink while the traditional and delicious Kumaoni dinner is cooked by the villagers, where the landlord while preparing it hops in and out of his fields to get fresh veggies and herbs for your meal.  Guests are welcome to watch and help! Day 06: Deora – Paliu Village – Today walking on the old village trails you pass through several villages which gives you a fantastic impression of Kumaoni local life, where the old traditions and culture are still part of their daily routine lives. You pass villages where the castes are strictly segregated, walk through terraced fields then along traditional irrigation channels and finally climb up to Paliu village. As everywhere in the Kumaon the people are friendly, curious in a childlike manner and more than happy to answer questions and be photographed. The walk takes you past ancient flour mills, where you can stop and see how they work.

Day 07: Paliu – Sokyatal

Walking through chir pine forest along terraced fields and a few scattered small villages the path now climbs steadily up to Sokyatal amidst forests of oak and rhododendron. (If you can make it between mid Feb. and Apr. you will be rewarded with the lovely sight of the rhododendron flowers in bloom, a blaze of colour). The Himalayan and panoramic valley views from the top of this ridge are magnificent. The grand finale is the setting sun covering the peaks with fire. Stretch out with refreshment in the quaint, stone courtyard looking down into the Jageshwar valley.

Day 08: Sokyatal – Jageshwar Temples – Kalmatia Sangam – Walk from Jawalbanj to Jageshwar through terraced fields, villages and magnificent cedar forests. At Jageshwar you can visit the ancient temple complex built by the Chand and Katyuri rulers between 8th. and 12th. Century A.D. Drive back to the resort you can see the prehistoric rock art at Lakhudiar. Overnight stay at Kalmatia Sangam.

Day 09: Kalmatia – Delhi – Day at leisure. Later evening you will be transferred to Kathgodam railway station to board overnight train to Delhi.

Day 10: Arrive & depart Delhi – Arrive Delhi in the morning. Transfer o a hotel for wash/ change. Later you will be transferred to international airport for onward journey.

Day 2: Rishikesh – Mundoli ( 215 kms/ 7-8 hrs) – After an early breakfast drive to Mundoli via Dev Prayag, Rudra Prayag and Karanprayag. Arrival at Mundoli by evening. Dinner and overnight stay in Camps.

Day 3: Mundoli – Wan – Bedni Bugyal (3350 mts/11000 ft) – In the morning drive 10 kms to Wan, which is the road head for the trek. Today we will trek 11 km (5-6 hrs) to reach Bedni Bugyal, probably one of the best camping sites in the Garhwal Himalayas. Dinner and overnight stay in Camps.

Day 4: Bedni Bugyal – Rest day for acclimatization/Exploratory day. Bedni Bugyal: Bedni Bugyal is a charming green meadow adorned with flowers in a spell binding varieties, in full bloom. There is a small lake situated in the midst of the meadow, where Tarpans are offered by the devotees. Situated nearby is a small temple where the devotees pay there obeisance, during their halt at Bedni Bugyal. Overnight in Camp.

Day 5: Bedni Bugyal – Bagubassa (4100 mts/13450 ft) – After breakfast trek to Bagubassa. Bagua means flowery park and Basa means place. And rightly the place was full of variety of flowers including the rare Bhram Kamal, a special godly lotus found at only and between the altitudes of 14000 – 15000 ft. Today we will trek 10 km, taking about 4-5 hrs to reach today’s campsite at Bagubassa. Dinner and overnight in Camp.

Day 6: Bagubassa – Roopkund (4450 mts/14600 ft) – Bedni Bugyal – Bhagubasa to Roopkund is easy walking in the flat but in morens ½ hour climbing with same view as last day. (4-5 hours). Kaluka Vinayak (pass) descending till to patar nachwani. The trek to Roopkund passes through delightful alpine pasture lands and snow fields, offering magnificent views of the Trisul, Nanda Ghunti, Badrinath peaks when the snow melts, human and equine skeletons remains can be seen. Some of them with flesh attached. These remains have been preserved in the alpine condition for centuries. It is believed that these are the remains of about 300 persons who died about 500 -600 years ago. In the afternoon trek back to Bedni Bugyal for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 7: Bedni Bugyal – Wan (2436 mts/8000 ft) – Retrace your steps towards Wan. This will take 3-4 hrs. Dinner and overnight in tents.

Day 8: Wan – Rishikesh (2200 mts /7200 ft) – After an early breakfast drive to Rishikesh. Lunch en-route and on arrival at Rishikesh check into hotel/Camp for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 9: Rishikesh – Delhi Departure – After an early breakfast drive to Delhi and arrival directly transfer to airport to take late evening flight to home

Day 1:  Delhi –  Rishikesh (245 Kms 6 Hrs) – Board the early morning train departing from New Delhi to reach Haridwar/Rishikesh. Transfer to a hotel in Rishikesh, a pilgrim township, a spiritual hub and a favourite meditation centre which also happens to be the Yoga Capital of the world. After lunch, there is a choice to raft on the Ganga till short of Rishikesh. In the evening explore the township and attend the aarti (evening prayers) by the banks of the river Ganga. Full day is to explore the Majuli Island.  The world’s largest River Island is famous for its twenty-two 15th Century “satras”. Visit Samuguri Satra famous for making Mask which are used during the live performance. Later visit Uttar Kamalabari Satra – the older Satra in Majuli Island.

Day 05: Majuli Island-Mon (By surface approx. 210 Kms /06 Hrs + 1 ½ hrs. ferry crossing)

Early morning start your drive to Mon for 06 hours.  If lucky we may see tea workers working on the numerous tea gardens enroute. After going through local Police & Indian Army checking formalities at the border of Nagaland, we enter the state.

We will enter the first Naga village on the way to Mon to pay a visit to the Village Morung. On arrival, check-in to the resort.

Day 06: Mon

After breakfast, we drive to Longwa village (approx. 42 kms/2 Hrs), one of the biggest villages in Mon district, it is an interesting sight to see. En route we make stops to visit local market and admire scenic beauty.

Longwa-village As the village straddles an international boundary line, one half of the Angh’s house falls within Indian Territory, whereas the other half lies under Myanmarese control. However, the whole village is controlled by the Angh and the village Council Chairman. Another interesting feature of this village is that the Angh of the village has 60 wives and his jurisdiction extends up to Myanmar and Arunachal Pradesh. Our special local guide speaks local dialect so he will unable the interaction with tribe people. Angh’s House and Morungs are decorated with different trophies like different animals skulls.

Hongpoi-VillageAfter our picnic lunch we drive back to Mon and visit another Konyak Tattooed Head Hunters village – Hongpoi Village (approx. 15 kms/45 mins). We drive back to our resort by late afternoon and evening free to relax.

Day 07: Mon- Jorhat (By surface approx. 190 Kms/06-07 Hrs)

After breakfast drive to Jorhat. En-route visit Charaideo Maidam – 30 kms from main Sibsagar town, sacred burial grounds of Ahom kings and queens and is also the place of ancestral Gods of the Ahoms. Later visit Kareng Ghar – The Royal Palace of Ahom Dynasty who ruled this area for 600 long years before the British came.

Day 01: Delhi – Agra

We will start early from Delhi Hotel/Airport/Home and drive to Agra. We will visit Sikandra on our way to Agra city. Upon arrival at Agra we will check-in at the hotel.

Later we will visit the famous Red Fort of Agra, where Shah Jahan was imprisoned by his son Aurangzeb, after a brief struggle for power. It is from the Red Fort that the old emperor gazed upon Taj Mahal, the tomb of his beloved queen Mumtaj.

In the Night we will proceed to Taj Mahal, which was constructed between 1631 A.D and 1654 A.D. The construction is said to have been done by a workforce of 22,000 and took some 20 years to complete.
