Day 1: Welcome to Delhi

Welcome to India and the start of your holiday!We will pick you from the Airport and take you to a pre booked hotel. After checkin, relax for a few hours.

In the afternoon we will take you on sightseeing tour of Old Delhi. Explore the colourful sights of Delhi. Opt to visit the imposing Red Fort, Jama Masjid – India’s oldest and largest mosque, Raj Ghat – the site of Mahatma Gandhi’s cremation. Overnight – Delhi

Day 2: Delhi – Ajmer – Pushkar Camel Fair

This morning is an early start as we board the Ajmer Shatabadi express bound for Ajmer. Seated in the air conditioned chair class carriage and leaving the city behind we look out upon a landscape of golden desert studded with green fields of agriculture and peaceful villages. Upon arrival to Ajmer a short drive leads us to our accommodation, a kilometer from the uproarious gathering of the Pushkar Camel Fair.

For the next few nights we bed down in our comfortable Swiss style permanent tented camp. Each high roofed tent with solid flooring, proper beds and linen offers the facilities of air conditioning, en suite with a bath and hot and cold running water.

After lunch and time to freshen up we head over to the frenzy of activity and riot of colour that is associated Pushkar – possibly the world’s largest camel fair. Attracting some 300 000 visitors, 40 000 camel, cattle and horses the fair draws sightseers, pilgrims, nomads, breeders, herdsmen, farmers and traders with their accompanying family, livestock and wares from all over the state of Rajasthan. Day 3: Camel judging, cricket, music & magicians

There are also more light hearted activities on offer such as the camel running races, tug of war, awards for the best dressed camel and a beauty pageant. Take a look in at the longest moustache competition or keep score at the cricket match between the local Pushkar club and a random assortment of tourists.

There are also vibrant folk music and dances, magic shows and various other traditional entertainment and competitions as well as hundreds of authentic stalls to explore, packed with jewelry and textiles from the surrounding areas.

The Brahma temple here is the most important temple in Pushkar, and is in fact the only Brahma temple in the whole of the country.

On this day of celebration countless pilgrims swathed in colourful fabric converge for a holy dip in the sacred lake before the morning sun has cast its first rays on the earth. Surrounded by 52 bathing ghats (a series of steps leading to the lake), throngs of devotees line the water’s edge praying to the deities before washing away the sins of a lifetime.

Day 5: Ajmer Sherif and onward to Delhi

Pushkar – Delhi. This morning offers free time before visiting the town of Ajmer Sherif. The most notable site is the resting place of the Sufi seer, Khwaja Muin-ud-din Chisti who died here in 1236 after six days of fasting and praying. Possibly the most important Muslim shrine in India fervent pilgrims patronize the shrine as did many of the Mughal rulers including that of Emperor Akbar.

Leading off the Dargah Bazaar we enter the shrine via a gateway of immensely beautifully intricately carved silver doors. In the courtyard stands two huge cauldrons with capacity of 2240 kg and 4480 litres! That’s a lot of chicken soup!

Onward to the station we board our train to Delhi arriving at 22:45 in the evening and transfer to the airport for your onward international flight.

Day 2: Delhi – Pushkar (390 km from Delhi, 07 hrs drive)

After a early breakfast proceed half day sightseeing tour of Delhi where ornate buildings recall the days when India was the Jewel in the crown of the British Empire.

A very exciting day awaits you; after breakfast we start the day with train Safari which is one of the major attractions at Jojawar.

The train journey will be followed by the Jeep safari organized to the neighboring tribal and Rebari settlements where one could interact and peep into the rich rural culture of Rajasthan and later visit a famous tribal horse lord temple where high tea is served just around sunset.

Ranakpur is widely known for its marble Jain temple, and for a much older Sun Temple which lies opposite the former. In general, the Jain temples of Ranakpur present a distinct style of their own. The ceilings of the temples are adorned with foliage scroll work and geometric patterns. The top and bottom part of the domes are joined by Brackets with figures of deities on them.

Day 8: Jodhpur – Dabdi (70 kms from Jodhpur, 1½ hrs drive)

Check out of the hotel after an early morning breakfast and start the day with the morning sight seeing of Jodhpur which includes the massive Mehrangarh fort.

This massive Mehrangarh fort came first and around it grew the city of Jodhpur protected by a high stone wall with seven gates and countless bastions) en route Osian.

osianOn arrival at the resort we begin our adventure of the camel safari. Packed lunch will be served in the afternoon arrival at village Bikamkor with a packed lunch. On arrival you will be met by our Safari staff and Camel riders. Then start your Camel Safari for village Dabdi, a two hour ride. Just before sunset, arrive at your exclusive mobile safari camp. Enjoy an evening under the stars followed by a candlelit dinner. Over night at the Dabdi dunes. Distance covered-9 kms.

Day 9: Dabdi – Osian

After breakfast we will start our safari through the Thar Desert. After a four hour ride we approach the oasis village ‘Khetasar’ where we visit the local weavers and the potters. Here lunch will be served by the oasis or at a village hut. After lunch resume the safari for the resort covering a total distance of 25 Km.

Alternatively for those not wanting to proceed to the resort by camel, Jeeps will be waiting to take you to the resort and there the afternoon can be spent enjoying the swimming pool located on the highest sand-dune.

Evening folk entertainment followed by dinner. Overnight at the resort in Osian.

Day 10 : Osian – Sodakore (200 kms from Osian, 5 hrs drive)

After breakfast take a short tour of the famous Osian Temples and then proceed to Sodakore.

The city was a major religious centre of the kingdom of Marwar during the Pratihara dynasty. Of the 18 shrines in the group, the Surya or Sun Temple and the later Kali temple, Sachiya Mata Temple and the main Jain temple dedicated to Lord Mahavira stands out in their grace and architecture.

Arrival at the nature resort in Sodakore which offers Organic food, farm fresh dairy and poultry products. In the evening enjoy the village safaris interacting with the vibrant village community and a walk around the Amla Orchard.

Day 11 : Sodakore – Jaisalmer – Sam (110 kms from Sodakore, 3 hrs drive)

Check out of the resort after breakfast and proceed for sightseeing of Jaisalmer which includes the golden-hued Jaisalmer fort, Nathmalji ki Haveli, Patwon ki Haveli, Salim singh ki Haveli.
