Char Dham Yatra Tour Packages

Char Dham Yatra

Char Dham Yatra is a tour of Four holy destinations in the Garhwal Himalayas namely Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath, collectively known as Char Dham. People from all over India and from other countries visit these pilgrimage centers each year. Traditionally, the pilgrimage begins from the West and ends in the East. Thus, the Char Dham Yatra commences from Yamunotri, then proceeding to Gangotri and finally to Kedarnath and Badrinath.

Char Dham Yatra Route Map

Each of these four sites is devoted to a specific deity.

Yamunotri is dedicated to the Goddess Yamuna who goes along the pilgrims to the high altitudes of the picturesque Rawai Valley. It is believed that a bath in the waters of the Yamuna protects the devotee from untimely death.

Yamunotri Temple

Gangotri is dedicated to the Goddess Ganga. The shrine overlooks the River Bhagirathi, another name of River Ganga – the name having been derived from the myth of the ancient King Bhagirath’s penance that succeeded in bringing her upon the earth from the heaven.

Gangotri
Gangotri

Kedarnath is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is also a part of the Panch Kedar. It is the northernmost Jyotirlinga and is close to the source of the holy River Mandakini.

Kedarnath Temple

Badrinath is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. It is situated on the bank of the River Alaknanda. According to legend, Lord Vishnu meditated here while his consort Lakshmi took the form of a berry (Badri) tree to offer him shade.

Badrinath Temple

Before embarking on this journey, one has to be prepared to experience physical as well as mental hardships on the Himalayan roads. The Char Dham Yatra is one of the quite accessible yet most arduous journeys. The Yatra route in the state is usually bustling with activity, especially during the summer. The scenic beauty of the mountains solemnly provides strength to the pilgrims as they move towards their destination.

Best time to Visit: The best time to visit Chardham is around the months of April, May and first half of June. That marks the pre-summers and summers at the Chardham when weather is pleasant enough to travel.

Khajuraho Tour Packages

khajuraho temple

The Khajuraho Group of Monuments is a group of Hindu temples and Jain temples in Chhatarpur district, Madhya Pradesh, India, about 175 kilometres southeast of Jhansi. They are a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Khajuraho

The Khajuraho group of temples were built during the rule of Rajput Chandela dynasty. They started building the complex as soon as they rose in power throughout their kingdom, which later came to be known as Bundelkhand. Most temples were constructed between 950 and 1050 AD during the reigns of Hindu Kings Yasovarman and Dhanga.

As per the legends, the temples had, as their gate, two golden date-palm trees. And this is how Khajuraho was derived from the word ‘khajur’, which means date palm.

khajuraho temple

According to folk tales, Hemvati was a beautiful woman, after whom the Khajuraho temples were built. One day, when she was bathing in a pool in Benaras, the Moon God was swooned by her beauty, and could not wait any longer to see her. They conceived a child and named him Chandravarman. However, she feared that her child might have to face harassment as he was born out of wedlock. She was so distressed that she cursed the Moon God, who later prophesied that the child will grow up to become a great king.

Just like the prophecy, the child indeed grew to become a great king, who founded the Chandela dynasty. One day, after Hemvati passed away, her son saw her in his dreams, where she asked him to construct temples that would depict human passions.

Khajuraho
Khajuraho

Khajuraho had 85 temples until the 12th century. When during the 13th century, central India was seized by the Delhi Sultanate, some of the temples were destroyed and the rest left in neglect. Now, only 22 temples managed to survive and stood the test of time.

Khajuraho

Quite interestingly, only 10 per cent of the carvings on the temple complex depict sexual themes. The rest of the cravings depict everyday life of the common man that existed during those times. While some sculptures display women applying makeup, there are others that showcase potters, musicians, farmers, and other common folks.

Taj Mahal Tour Packages

Taj Mahal Tour Packages

Taj Mahal is a cultural UNESCO World Heritage Site  and more than 6 million people visit Taj Mahal annually.

Located on the south bank of the Yamuna river at Taj Ganj, Agra, is the ivory-white marble mausoleum called Taj Mahal which an emblem of eternal love.

Taj Mahal was built by the Mughal Emperor, Shah Jehan, in loving  memory of his favorite queen Mumtaz Mahal who died on June 17, 1631 while giving birth to their 14th child at the age of 40!

Taj Mahal is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and took nearly 20 years and about 20,000 workers to complete. Ustad Ahmad Lahauri, a Persian from Iran is considered to be the chief architect. Construction started in 1632, and the mausoleum was completed in 1643, while the surrounding buildings and garden were finished five years later.

taj mahal

It costed 32 million rupees at that time, which amounts to about 60 Billion Rupees in today’s value.

The Taj Mahal was constructed using materials from all over India and Asia. Over 1,000 elephants were used to transport building materials during the construction. The translucent white marble was brought from Rajasthan, the jasper from Punjab and the jade and crystal from China. The turquoise was from Tibet and the Lapis lazuli from Afghanistan, while the sapphire came from Sri Lanka and the carnelian from Arabia. In all, twenty-eight types of precious and semi-precious stones were inlaid into the white marble.

It is understood that the building expense of Taj Mahal put an enormous strain on the Mughal Treasury, and resulted in a coupe for power in which Emperor Shaha Jehan was deposed by his son Aurangzeb. Shah Jehan spent last of his 8 years of life imprisoned in the Red Fort, about 1 Km away from Taj Mahal. In his failing eye sight, he spent the rest of his days gazing at Taj Mahal through mirrors.

Best Time to Visit – Between October and March.
