Itinerary
Day 1: Reach Leh
Reach Leh by Air & Transfer to Hotel by Private Taxi. All day relax in hotel for acclimatization. In the evening head towards Shanti Stupa followed by stroll in the markets of Leh. Shanti Stupa was built in 1991 by Japanese Buddhist Bhikshu.
Overnight stay in Hotel.
Day 2: Leh Local ( Stok Museum, Shey Monastery, Thiksey Monastery, Stakna Gompa, Leh Palace)
After breakfast at hotel, visit Stok Museum followed by Shey Monastery and Thiksey Monastery where we will find buddhist monks for beautiful portraits and many subjects such as Buddhist art, statues, thangkas, wall paintings and swords. The monastery gives us clear view of indus valley which is the major attraction for landscape photographers.
After lunch visiting Stakna Monastery which is also known as Tiger’s nose monastery. No trip to Ladakh is complete without capturing the beautiful composition of the monastery, which is located on a small hill alongside river Indus, during golden hour under the beautiful colors of sunset. After witnessing magnificent sunset at Leh-Manali Highway, move towards Leh Local Market followed by dinner at hotel.
Day 3: Leh – Changla Pass – Pangong (Approx 150Kms)
Move early in the morning for Chang La to ensure that we reach Changla La without encountering lot of traffic. Once we reach the summit, you have 10 to 15 minutes to wander around and get your photographs clicked at the 3rd Highest motor-able road in World. Then leave for Pangong Tso Lake.
Arrive Pangong, which is the highest salt water Lake in the World, shared by two countries India & China, Enjoy the beauty of the lake. Drop off your luggage at the camps and get ready to click beautiful landscapes with amazing cloud formations and beautiful sunsets. Overnight in camps followed by dinner and astro-photography.
Day 4: Pangong – Nubra (Approx 170 kms)
After breakfast in Pangong Camps, spend some time at the lake & 3 idiots site & move towards Nubra Valley via Shok Valley. It one of the least traveled route and most remote area of ladakh region and perfect for capturing mountain ranges and valleys. Reaching Hunder, Visit the cold desert and enjoy the camel rides.
Hunder is set amidst fields of rye and barley and surrounded by fruit orchids and sand dunes. A perfect place for clicking silhouettes under the beautiful lights of sunset. Overnight stay at Hunder followed by dinner. Don’t forget to do Astro-photography and click the amazing night sky of nubra valley after 11:00 PM to capture Milky way in your photo gallery forever.
Day 5: Hunder – Diskit – Hunder
After breakfast in camps leave for Diskit Monastery. The main and unique attraction of Diskit monastery is a gigantic statue with approximately height 100 feet of Lord Buddha on the top of it and is considered as one of the oldest as well as the largest Buddhist center in Ladakh.
A perfect place to experience and capture the magnificent view of Nubra valley from the top of the monastery. After lunch, walk around Diskit to witness magnificent sunset & sandstorms followed by overnight at camps in Hunder.
Day 6: Nubra – Khardung La – Lamayuru (Approx 240kms)
After breakfast in Nubra Camps, Start early in the morning for a long journey towards our next destination, Lamayuru via Khardungla, the highest motorable road in world standing at an elevation of 18,380 ft (5602 m). Once we reach the summit, you can take time out to get your photo taken next to the signboard which says “Khardung La, 18380 ft. (5602 m), Highest Motorable Road in the world”.
Later on, moving towards Leh for Lunch followed by a drive of 125km to Lamayuru. Lamayuru is famous for and is also known as Moonland. As the name says itself, the land resembles moon.
Overnight stay at hotel in Lamayuru.
Day 7: Lamayuru – Aryan Village ( Approx 80kms)
After morning Breakfast, visit Lamayuru Monastry for shots of Buddhist monks and Buddhist art and architecture. Later on, Drive towards Dah Hanu, the Aryan Village.
Here you will find a community which is believed to be the last race of Aryans, confined to the valley. With their pure Aryan features, these people seemed to have preserved their racial purity down the centuries. A great place to capture tribal and cultural photographs. Overnight stay at hotel.
Day 8: Aryan Village – Sonmarg (Approx 200 kms)
Leave early in the morning after breakfast. On the way to Sonamarg ,witness the Drass war memorial, built in the memory of fallen soldiers in the 1999 Kargil war, a few kms before Drass. Now we move towards Sonamarg 62kms from Drass passing the famous Zoji La pass (11,640ft), the gateway to the Kashmir.
Moving towards the greener part of the Jammu and kashmir region, The flower-laden meadows and panoramic view of lofty Himalayan peaks always capture a photographer’s eye. When the mellow rays of the sun caress the snow capped mountains, they turn golden, which gives Sonamarg (golden meadow) its name.
Overnight at Sonmarg.
Day 9: Sonamarg – Srinagar (Approx 80 kms)
After breakfast in the morning, Drive towards our last destination, Srinagar within 2 hours. Reach Srinagar through some of the magnificent vistas Kashmir is renowned for. Ringed by an arc of green mountains, Srinagar’s greatest draw-card is mesmerisingly placid Dal Lake, on which a bright array of stationary houseboats and shikara (gondola-like boats) add a splash of color and a unique opportunity for Photographers to make classic landscape shots of mountain valley.
You can visit couple of beautiful gardens in Srinagar. Overnight at magnificent House Boat, the signature stay of Srinagar followed by dinner.
Day 10: Srinagar – Home town (Tour ends)
Reach airport for your flights to your hometown with a lot of cherish-able and unforgettable memories. And don’t forget the amazing collection of photographs that will always remind you about these Amazing days.
